How do you bold text on LinkedIn? In a regular post, comment, headline, or About section, there's no button for it: those fields only accept plain text. The workaround is bold unicode, letters that look bold because they're different characters, and this free LinkedIn bold text generator makes them for you.
Type your text, copy the Bold, Italic, or Bold Italic version, and paste it into LinkedIn. It works on desktop and in the mobile app, and readers see the styling too. LinkedIn articles and newsletters do have a real formatting toolbar, so if you're writing one of those, use the built-in bold instead.
Use it sparingly. One bold hook line, or a bold label on each point of a list, helps a long post scan; a fully bold paragraph is harder to read, and screen readers may spell styled characters out or skip them. Need the post itself? Draft it with the LinkedIn post generator, then schedule it with the PostJay LinkedIn scheduler.
Frequently asked questions
How do I bold text on LinkedIn?
Type your text above, click Copy next to Bold, and paste it into your post, comment, headline, or About section. LinkedIn has no bold option in those fields, so the bold comes from unicode characters that look bold.
Can I use bold text in my LinkedIn headline?
Yes, paste it in the same way. Use it lightly, though: recruiters search for words like your job title, and styled characters may not match those searches. Keep your role and key skills in plain text.
Does bold text work in LinkedIn articles?
Articles and newsletters have their own editor with real bold and italic, so you don't need unicode there. This generator is for the places that only take plain text.
Why do numbers stay plain in the italic style?
Unicode's italic set only covers letters, so digits and punctuation stay normal. The Bold style includes bold digits, so use it when your hook has a number in it.
