Instagram Line Break Generator
Add clean line breaks and spacing to Instagram captions and bios.
Write it with blank lines exactly where you want the gaps. Empty lines are filled with an invisible character so Instagram keeps them.
You write a caption with neat paragraphs, hit Share, and Instagram turns it into one dense block. This free Instagram line break generator fixes that. Type or paste your caption with blank lines where you want the gaps, and it fills each empty line with an invisible character and trims stray spaces from line ends, so the spacing survives.
Why it works: an empty line, or one that only has spaces in it, is easy for Instagram to throw away. A line holding the Braille Pattern Blank character (U+2800) looks empty but technically has content, so it stays. If you'd rather do it by hand, use the Copy invisible character button and paste it on each blank line yourself.
Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is stored. Spaced-out captions are easier to skim, especially long ones near the 2,200-character limit. Pair this with the AI caption generator for the words and PostJay's Instagram scheduler to publish the finished caption at the right time.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Instagram remove the line breaks in my caption?
Instagram doesn't document how it handles spacing, and the behaviour has changed between app versions. In practice, completely empty lines and lines that contain only spaces are often collapsed when the caption is saved, so two paragraphs end up squashed together. Stray spaces at the end of a line are often blamed too, so this tool strips them as well.
What is the invisible character?
It's the Unicode character U+2800, called Braille Pattern Blank. It takes up a character slot but draws nothing, so it looks like an empty line. Because it isn't a space, Instagram treats the line as having content and leaves it in place.
Does this work for my Instagram bio too?
Yes. Paste the formatted text into the bio field in Edit Profile. Keep in mind each invisible character counts as one character, and the bio limit is about 150 characters, so a couple of spacer lines is usually plenty.
Are there any downsides to using an invisible character?
A small one: some screen readers announce U+2800 as a blank braille symbol rather than skipping it, which can be distracting for people who use them. Use spacer lines between paragraphs where they help readability, not to pad out a caption.
